How’s That?

In towns in Texas, if you want to work for the city/county government, you apply the job the way you would think you would. Answer an ad, you know somebody etc.

After your hired, you can be working at the position you were hired for. An “illegal alien” comes in and can’t speak ENGLISH, you jump up and help.

Well, in some small towns if you can do that you’ll be given a raise up to $150.00 a month. On the face of it that sounds nice.

Raises for Person “A” doing the same job as person “B” are going to be different.

Here’s how the math goes (for those of you that went to a public school): Your were hired for $2000/month. If you get a 10% raise that’s $2000 times the percentage or 110% or $2200.

Here’s how the math goes (for those of you that went to a public school): You’re hired for the same $2000/month. Your given an extra $150 for knowing Spanish. Now your making $2150/month. If you get a 10% raise that’s $2150 multiplied by the percentage or 110% or $2365. Forever more your going to make $15/month more ($2365 – $2200 – $150 = $15) than the woman next to you for doing the same job!

Now for the point that is not easily seen… The person that was hired to do a specific job is now doing something different. And now you need to replace that person because they are no longer doing the job they were hired for. Government has just gotten bigger invisibly!
